Machine Constraints

All BlueCell versions allow users to specify limits imposed by cutting equipment to prevent the creation of solutions than cannot actually be produced at the machine. These include limitations on the complexity of the layouts, clamp requirements, etc.

Python Scripting Support

All BlueCell versions include integrated python script support. Python is widely-used, open-source coding language that can be used to automate BlueCell functions (marcos), build custom dialogs, and more. Remnants I

All BlueCell versions can find reusable remnant sizes in the optimized solutions based on user-definable criteria. Users can specify minimum dimensions for a remnant area for each material type and size. If an unused area on the material meets the minimum dimension specified then the area is designated as a remnant.

Remnants II

This feature allows remnant sizes from optimized solutions to be added automatically to the BlueCell material library for use in future optimizations. These remnants are prioritized so they are consumed as quickly as possible.

Remnants III

Enhances BlueCell remnant management with an integrated version of Eurosoft’s InStock technology. Allow for the creation and management of bin locations; Remnants generated by BlueCell can be assigned to bins manually or can be added automatically based on user-definable criteria. Includes a built-in dashboard application for management of remnants and bins.

Inventory Manager

Allows material quantities, including those of remnant pieces, to be automatically updated to reflect quantities consumed by optimizations.

Standard Reports

BlueCell’s SQL database can be used with any SQL capable reporting software including MSSQL Reporting services, Crystal Reports, etc. BlueCell ships with several prebuilt SQL reports which can be used right out of the box. Reports can be viewed within BlueCell using the integrated report viewer.

Over/Under Production

This feature allows the user to specify an acceptable range for the quantity of each part to be produced in addition to a fixed quantity. If a range is specified, the optimizer can overproduce and/or underproduce the parts to improve the yield of the job.

Material Cost Optimization

This feature allows a cost value to be assigned to each raw material type and size. The optimizer will take the cost of the material into account during optimization to minimize the overall cost of material for the job.

Labor Cost Optimization

This feature allows the cost of labor to be taken into account during optimization. The optimizer will attempt to minimize the cost of labor required to produce the job based on user-definable cost criteria for various actions (e.g. loading a new board, switching materials, etc.)

True Headcuts

Most automated panel saws support headcut patterns. A true head cut pattern allows increased pattern complexity by separating the raw material into two smaller panels on the first cut. True headcut patterns can increase yield but also take longer to produce at the machine. BlueCell’s Dynamic algorithm can generate true headcut patterns; The user can enable or disable true headcut pattern generation as needed.

Filler Parts/Parts prioritization

This feature allows parts sizes to be designated with different priority levels. At the lowest priority level parts are treated as "fillers" that can be added to a result to improve the yield. A typical application is for stretchers, or other standard parts that are needed in large quantities and are not specific to a single product.

Grain Formations

Allows the user to create arrangements of parts that must stay together to preserve a continuous flow of the grain pattern across the included parts. Typical applications are high-end kitchen cabinets, wall paneling and architectural millwork. BlueCell uses a flexible coordinate system which allows the creation of virtually any type of part formation. Formations can be designed using a drag and drop builder or the coordinates can be imported from files or other data sources. BlueCell checks for the validity of the formations and will warn the user if parts in the formation overlap/collide.

Pattern Editor

Allows manual editing of patterns created by BlueCell or imported from supported 3rd party files. The editor features drag and drop support – click and drag parts to move them to the desired location on the layout, or drag available parts from the parts list onto the pattern to add them.

SQL Import/Export Wizard

This fully featured interface allows you to import and export data from BlueCell and various database types. Create any number of custom import/export commands and any number of Command sequences. Command sequences allow you to execute multiple import/export actions with a single click. Multiple datasources are also supported – you can create a query to pull sheets from one database into BlueCell, another to import parts from a different database, and execute them in a single command sequence.
